Seeing our society from days gone by centuries as much as today’s, it’s quite definitely evident that there are several developments that took place. Due to these developments, life is becoming complicated. As a result of complication, people have overlooked the issues caused by developments due to the glittering gold and silver that supposed developments offer.
Among the issues that have been overlooked for days gone by decades are the environmental problems which are becoming worse since the years passed by. Several environmental problems which we’re facing right now are the results of agricultural malpractices because of insufficient education.
Among the environmental problems may be the continuous destruction of the soil as a result of excessive usage of inorganic fertilizers which has กรมส่งเสริมการเกษตร resulted to soil infertility. An evidence to justify this fact may be the gradual extinction of wild plants of previously, just sprout from the soil without human interventions. Another problem may be the contamination of the water source and air as a result of excessive usage of pesticides and other chemicals which are being used to spray the plants. As a result, clean water are becoming lesser which also subscribe to the spread of communicable diseases. Something more, may be the increasing amount of pests and diseases to both plants and animals and even humans. Because of most these problems, some people from the agricultural industry propose organic agriculture believing that this may at least lessen these problems.
Organic agriculture is really a holistic production management that discourages the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and genetically modified organisms. Purposively, it would subscribe to the lessening of air soil and water pollutions, and maximizes the fitness of the interdependent communities of plants animals and humans. Which means there should be a balance in the environmental surroundings whereby none of these living organisms would out number the other. The reason being through organic agriculture, the lives of the beneficial micro-organisms are preserved to steer clear of the flourishing of pests and diseases that destroy the said interdependent communities. They’re called interdependent communities because as the term “interdependent” imply, plants, animals and humans rely on each other to be able to survive. Plants give off oxygen and food to humans and animals. On another hand, animals and humans give off carbon dioxide and waste products for the plants to used in food processing or photosynthesis. One more thing to get attention is the balance amount of preys and predators in the environment. Quite simply the food chain cycle shouldn’t be disturbed because if that’ll happen there’ll be described as a dominance of just one population which leads to food scarcity for another population. For instance, if the farmers continuously use synthetic pesticides, small organisms will soon be killed which leads to growing amount of pests because no other organisms that could eat them. As a result of this, plants that serve as the food for humans and animals will soon be destroyed by these pests. That’s why organic agriculture is reported to be the solution for food scarcity in the future to come.
For organic agriculture ahead the truth is, farmers should be educated about the correct practices in agriculture. In reality, in the Philippines, you will find certain radio programs and television programs allotted for the promotion of organic agriculture. Other than that, seminars will also be conducted by experts in agriculture. There are also cooperatives which are being established to focus on the requirements and address the issues of the farmers. Other than that are the many government programs which are implemented to different regions of the country. But most of all may be the cooperative effort among the sectors in the society in promoting and supporting the implementation of organic agriculture practices. On the list of sectors in the society which should exert more effort may be the education sector with the facilitation of educational institutions especially with State universities or any university that provides agricultural courses.
